Yes, after a long hiatus, the GAM Blaskapelle is headed back over the ocean for a Magical Musical Tour of Europe's "Middle Kingdom!" Although you'll hear folks speak of our "Germany Tour," this tour actually encompasses the Heart of Europe, the traditional fairy tale "Middle Kingdom" of Southern Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Tirolean Austria. Picture yourself and some 30 other Blaskapelle Fans boarding Continental Airlines at Buffalo Airport just after noon on Tuesday evening, July1st and waking up the next morning in Zürich, Switzerland. At Zürich we will boarding a beautiful modern bus for a special ten-day musical trip of a life-time through some of the most scenic parts of the heart of Europe! The
bus takes us east to the lovely Swiss town of Luzern
at the foot of majestic Mount
Pilatus, where, it is said, the body of Pontius Pilate lies - and
where you will get a spectacular 360-degree view of the heart of Switzerland!
| On the way down from Mount Pilatus, we will visit the famous Stocker Alphorn Factory in Kriens and the touching Löwendenkmal, carved into stone in honor of the Swiss Guards who died protecting King Louis XV of France from the revolutionary mobs. A quick stop for an afternoon event in the tiny principality of Liechtenstein and the Band bus sets out east and climbs high through the literal "High Point" of our Musical Tour, the Vorarlberg Pass. From there, the Band overnights in the " romantic soul of Bavaria, the beautiful town of Füssen, starting the next day with a tour of the magnificent Fairy Tale castle "Neuschwanstein" The next day, the Blaskapelle will set out for a shopping stop in the picturesque twin-village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, near Oberamergau, where the world famous Passion Play has taken place every ten years since the village was saved from the Black Plague. We'll miss the Passion Play, but we won't miss the unforgettable Bavarian architecture or the imposing mountains surrounding this beautiful village! | ||

We leave Garmisch-Partkirchen for two days in the scenic capital of Tirol, the beautiful town of Innsbruck During our stay in Innsbruck, we'll take a run-out to the "Pearl of Tyrol" lovely ancient town of Kufstein with its famous medieval fortress and majestic "Heldenorgel." Along the way, we'll take a trip up famous Zillertal, home of so much beautiful Austrian folk music. Leaving Innsbruck, the Band heads for Munich -- or as the rest of the world calls it, "München." Although we will be three months early for the Oktoberfest, we will perform in the world-famous Hofbräuhaus, the home of Gemütlichkeit! After two days in München, we set out along the "Romantic Road" to shows in the walled medieval city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber with plenty time in the afternoon to catch the Christmas Market, the Criminal Museum and the "Master Draught" where the Lord Mayor saved his town from the maurading Swedes by downing an enormous flagon of wine! | The more ambitious among of us will certainly set out to walk completely around the wall and will be rewarded with a spectacular view of this beautiful Medieval town. The next day, you'll certainly lose your heart in Heidelberg, the of the "Student Prince" the old student societies, and the historic "Philosophers' Walk.". We'll overnight in Rüdesheim in the heart of German wine country. The next day, we'll celebrate our final full day in Europe with a magnificent journey down the Rhein river, past the Lorelei Rock in St. Goarshausen. Although the Band will be plenty busy on stage for this Musical Tour of the Middle Kingdom, there will be plenty of time for souvenir shopping and for simply sitting down in a sidewalk cafe under the late June sun for a refreshing beverage, as you take in the beauty of this very special part of Europe! | ||
