Die Blaskapelle im zauberhaften Mittelreich!
"The Blaskapelle in the Magical Middle Kingdom!"

A Magical Musical Tour with the Great GAM Blaskapelle!

After a long hiatus, the GAM Blaskapelle headed back over the ocean this pasta summer for a Magical Musical Tour of Europe's "Middle Kingdom!"

Although you'll hear folks speak of our "Germany Tour," this tour actually encompassed the Heart of Europe: the traditional fairy tale "Middle Kingdom" of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Southern Germany, and Tirolean Austria.

The Blaskapelle boarded Continental Airlines at Buffalo Airport Tuesday evening, July1st and after making a smooth connection in Philadelphia, we were treated to a gorgeus morning in the Banking Capital of the World, beautiful Zürich, Switzerland.

At Zürich we will met our Tour Guide, Günther Bachhuber from and boarded a beautiful modern bus for a ten-day musical trip of a life-time through some of the most scenic parts of the heart of Europe!

The bus took us on a fascinating tour of the Banking Capital of the world and then south to the luxurious City Hotel in the picturesque Swiss town of Luzern at the foot of majestic Mount Pilatus, where, it is said, the body of Pontius Pilate lies

After unpacking and stretching, we got back on the bus and visited the fascinating Tobias Alphorn factory where we were treated to a virtuosic performance on some absolutely gorgeoous Alphorns.

Returning to the Hotel, we broke into groups: some clmbing the Ramparts, some on a walking tour and some on a boat excursion of the beautiful "Lake Lucerne" - otherwise known as the Vierwaldstätter-See

On the way back from the Tobias Alphorn Factory, we visited the touching Löwendenkmal, carved into stone in honor of the Swiss Guards who died protecting King Louis XV of France from the revolutionary mobs.

The next day, we headed for the tiny principality of Liechtenstein with a stop in "Heidiland" in scenic Maienfeld where the beautiful folk-novel "Heidi" was written. In Heidiland, Günther led us on an invigorating hike through the high meadows to a farm museum showing what life was like in Heidi's time.

Following an afternoon of relaxing and shopping in Vaduz in the tiny principality of Liechtenstein, the Blaskapelle set out through the Allgäu where we saw the haunting dark pines of the eastern side of the Schwarzwald.
